The Narrowstep Player will run on Mac OS X versions 10.3 and 10.4.  You should generally make sure your OS is up to date by running System Preferences>Software Update.  This will also make sure your copy of Safari is up to date.  Ensure you have the right version of Safari for your OS: v1.3 for OS 10.3 and v2.0 for OS 10.4.

You will also need either Microsoft Windows Media Player version 9 or the Flip4Mac (version 2.0.2 or better) components for QuickTime.  Both of these are available free from here:

Please note that Flip4Mac is not fully supported and therefore will probably not play our videos properly. If you use Flip4Mac, you will need to check the "create streaming movies" box in preferences. We advise using a PowerPC Mac instead of an Intel Mac to view our videos whenever possible.

You can use most of the browsers available for Mac OS. We have tested and recommend Safari or Firefox. (NOTE: There is a known audio issue with the Safari + Flip4Mac combination. If you are using both of these and hear an echoing effect, try disabling the Flip4Mac plug-in (in System Preferences) or using a different web browser.) Naturally the more memory, faster processor and internet connection you have, the better the player will perform. On older systems it is sometimes advisable to use a lower data-rate than that which is automatically detected (go to the Settings tab panel on the player and select the next rate down, then click confirm.
